Accessible Trades is a specialist UK-wide discovery service that brings together potentially relevant companies, reviewed supporting evidence and clearly labelled company-supplied information from claimed or enhanced profiles.
How companies are found
Accessible Trades is a specialist discovery service rather than a general trade directory. It brings together potentially relevant companies from across the UK and adds reviewed evidence where an official source clearly connects a company with accessible or disability-related adaptation work.
Accessible Trades uses public company information to identify businesses whose registered activities may relate to accessible home improvement and adaptation work. This includes records published by Companies House and the Standard Industrial Classification codes a company has registered for its business activities.
Relevant activities can include general building, plumbing, electrical work, joinery, kitchen and bathroom installation, architectural services, surveying, lift installation and other specialist services. These records help narrow a large national company dataset into potentially useful local results.
How inclusion works
Companies House records and registered SIC activities are used to identify businesses that may be relevant to home adaptation work.
Search results are filtered by distance and the trade categories selected by the user, such as bathrooms, ramps, lifts, plumbing or building work.
Council records, public-sector sources and official company websites can provide an additional reason to show a company more prominently.
An authorised company representative can ask Accessible Trades to confirm their connection to the legal company and maintain basic company-supplied information such as contact details, service areas and an introduction.
An enhanced profile can include richer company-supplied content, branding, project imagery and more detailed service information. Enhanced presentation remains separate from supporting evidence.
Supporting evidence
A relevant council source, public contract, framework listing or official company website has been found and reviewed against the company identity.
Supporting evidence may describe accessible bathrooms, wet rooms, ramps, stairlifts, hoists, widened doorways, Disabled Facilities Grant work or other home adaptation services.
A company without supporting evidence may still provide suitable work. It simply means Accessible Trades has not yet recorded an additional public source for that company.
Claimed and enhanced profiles
Accessible Trades has reviewed a request from someone authorised to represent the legal company. The company can then supply or maintain selected public-facing information.
A claimed profile does not mean that Accessible Trades has approved the company's workmanship, pricing, availability or suitability for a particular project.
An enhanced profile is a claimed profile with a richer presentation, which may include branding, photographs, detailed service descriptions, areas covered and information about how the company works.
Enhanced profiles may form part of a paid service. Payment does not create supporting evidence, change evidence status, improve an evidence score or alter the order of standard search results.
Profile status and evidence status are separate. A company can be claimed, enhanced, evidence-backed, or a combination of these. Labels are shown separately so users can see which information comes from the company and which has been independently reviewed by Accessible Trades.
What a listing means
The company appears in public records and its registered activities may relate to the selected trade or adaptation need.
A website, council record or public-sector source may provide a clearer reason why the company could be relevant.
Public records, company-supplied content and evidence reviewed by Accessible Trades are presented as separate information sources.
Inclusion, claiming or enhanced presentation does not confirm workmanship, safety, pricing, availability, insurance or suitability for a particular project.
What the service covers
People can search Accessible Trades by location, distance and the type of work they need. Supported searches include accessible bathroom and wet-room installers, adapted kitchen companies, ramp and handrail installers, doorway and entrance adaptations, home lifts, stairlifts, hoists, electrical work, plumbing and wider building alterations.
The service also publishes plain-English guidance about Disabled Facilities Grants, choosing a company, checking public information and understanding why evidence-backed results are highlighted.

A registered activity describes part of a company's business, but it does not prove that the company currently provides a particular adaptation, works throughout the surrounding area or is suitable for an individual project.
A claimed or enhanced profile confirms only that company-supplied information has been provided through an authorised representative and presented under the relevant label. It does not independently verify every service claim or provide a guarantee.
Accessible Trades does not accredit companies, inspect completed work, manage contracts, process payments or guarantee quality, safety, availability, price or eligibility for a grant.
Corrections and removal requests
Company records, websites, telephone numbers and service descriptions can change. A business owner, authorised profile manager, customer or member of the public can report information that appears inaccurate, outdated, duplicated or connected to the wrong company.
Include the company name, company number, the relevant page or search result, what appears to be wrong and a reliable source showing the correction. Requests are reviewed before information is changed or a listing is suppressed.
